Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and MP Farooq Abdullah has announced his resignation from the post of National Conference (NC) President on Friday. During this, he said that it is time to hand over the command to the new generation.
Farooq Abdullah said, ‘I will not contest the post of president now. The election for this post will be held on December 5. The time has come for the new generation to take up the responsibility. Anyone from the party can contest for this post. It is a democratic process. The party elections of NC are going to be held on December 5. Speculations are rife that former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah may become the new president of the party.
Dr. Farooq will remain president till the party elections
On the other hand, amid reports of Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s resignation from the post of president, NC leader Tanveer Sadiq has tweeted that Dr. Abdullah will continue as party president. Party spokesperson Imran Dar says that he is firm on his decision. Everyone is surprised by his decision. Elections for the party president will be held on December 5. Till that time Dr. Abdullah will continue to be the President.
