After the meeting held on November 1, Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, RK Sudhanshu had ordered a safety audit of all motor bridges in the state on November 2. Whose time limit was kept for 3 weeks, but whether the safety audit has been completed, it remains a big question in itself. Taking lessons after the Morbi bridge accident in Gujarat in the past, the Uttarakhand government had expressed serious concern about the safety audit of all motor bridges in the state. There are also many such motor bridges present in the same state, which have become very old or are in dilapidated condition. In view of this, IAS RK Sudhanshu, Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, had ordered a safety audit of all motor bridges within 3 weeks on 2 November.
The time period of this order is being completed on November 23, but till now the situation in the Public Works Department regarding the safety audit has not been clarified. ETV India talked to the Head of Department of Public Works Department, Chief Engineer Ejaz Ahmed regarding the matter. During this, he told that the Principal Secretary of the department has given 3 weeks time for the safety audit of all motor bridges in the state. For which all the executive engineers and superintending engineers of the department are taking action.
He told that the number of dilapidated bridges identified in the state is limited, but safety audit is to be done of all motor bridges in the state. Whose number is around 3 thousand. Action is on in this regard.
