Mallikarjun Kharge appeared in the form in the first meeting of the Congress Steering Committee, said- show the work, otherwise leave the chair

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday strongly pitched for organizational accountability and said those who are unable to fulfill their responsibilities have to make room for their colleagues. In his inaugural speech at the first meeting of the Congress steering committee constituted by the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge asked state in-charges to present a roadmap for agitation on people’s issues in the next 30 to 90 days.

Mallikarjun Kharge said, “I believe that the biggest part of our responsibility towards the party and the country is- organizational accountability from top to bottom. If the Congress organization is strong, accountable, lives up to the expectations of the people, then only we will be able to win the elections and serve the people of the country.

In a stern message to Congress functionaries, Kharge also said that while there are many responsible people in the party who are doing their duty, some people had assumed that the lack of responsibility would be ignored. He said, “It is neither right nor acceptable. Those who are unable to fulfill their responsibility will have to make way for their colleagues.”

Mallikarjun Kharge also praised the Bharat Jodo Yatra and said that it is writing history under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. He said that Bharat Jodo Yatra has now taken the form of a national movement. Kharge also said that it is the duty of the people of Congress to fight against the ruling forces which sow the seeds of hatred and reap the fruits of division.

Those who attended the meeting included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Sonia Gandhi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, his Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel, senior leaders P Chidambaram, Anand Sharma, Meira Kumar and Ambika Soni. Rahul Gandhi did not attend the meeting as the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by him is scheduled to enter Rajasthan on Sunday evening. The Steering Committee has been formed in place of the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
