Trying to blackmail people in the name of Uttarakhand DGP!

People are being blackmailed by creating fake profiles on Truecaller in the name of Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar. A photo of the DGP meeting another IPS officer has been posted on the profile. When the Uttarakhand police came to know about this, a case was registered in the cyber station. The police is looking for the blackmailer. Alok Jain, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, emailed the Cyber Crime Police Station on December 1. Told that he is getting calls from one number for the last three to four days. DGP Ashok Kumar’s photo is pasted on it and his name is also registered. The callers are asking for money by blackmailing themselves as DGP.

The victim came to know that it was a fake call. The number given in their complaint was investigated in the cyber crime police station. The Social Media Intervention Cell has found that people are being wrongly intimidated in the name of DGP. A case has been registered in the matter under sections of the IT Act. ASP STF Chandramohan Singh told that investigation is being done in the matter. On the other hand, the number from which money is being sought by threatening people in the name of DGP was running till Sunday evening. The bell rang on him. But no one picked up.
