Warning of rain and snowfall in the mountains and cold wave in the plains for the next three days

The bitter cold is increasing the miseries in Uttarakhand. The drop in temperature in the morning and evening and chilly winds are leaving the shivering. The prolonged dry weather is expected to change in the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light rain and snowfall in the hilly areas of the state for the next three days. Whereas, warnings have been issued regarding cold wave and dense fog in the plains. It has also been advised to be health conscious due to extreme difference in maximum and minimum temperature.

The weather is dry and there is no rain and snowfall for one and a half months

The weather is dry in the state for the last one and a half months and there is no rain and snowfall. However, the cold is continuously increasing. In most cities, the maximum temperature is normal or above, but the minimum temperature has reached one to two degrees Celsius below normal. Due to which there is an outbreak of cold in the morning and evening from the field to the mountain.

According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Centre, there is a possibility of change in the weather pattern in the state due to the activation of Western Disturbance. For the next three days, there may be light rain and snowfall in Chamoli-Pithoragarh and surrounding mountainous areas.

Along with this, there are chances of snowfall in the areas with a height of more than 3000 meters. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued regarding dense fog in the surrounding plains including Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. Along with this, warnings have also been issued for cold wave. During this, there can be a difference of more than 18 degree Celsius in the maximum and minimum temperature.

Water freezing in Lokhandi Lohari village

Water is freezing due to cold in Lokhandi Lohari village of Chakrata area. Supply is also being affected when the water tank is completely frozen. This time people are shivering due to dry cold. The number of people suffering from common cold is also increasing. Due to frost, there is severe cold in the area, due to which water is freezing in Lokhandi Lohari.

Drinking water supply has also been affected due to frost freezing of drinking water lines of houses at Lagapokhari, Chhawni Bazar Chakrata, Supply, Janglat Chowki etc. Peas etc. crops are also getting ruined due to cold in Chakrata area. In some areas of Lokhandi Lohari and Chakrata areas, supply has also been affected due to freezing of water in the drinking water line.

Villagers are falling ill due to severe cold, due to which the number of patients has increased in OPD of CHC Chakrata. Along with the treatment, doctors are also telling the ways to avoid the disease. It is being advised to consume hot water in cold. Also, they are advising to take more care of children and the elderly.

Debris fell during the explosion, Lipulekh road closed

The Tawaghat-Lipulekh road leading to the China border in Dharchula is closed for the last 40 hours due to debris near Malpa. Vehicles going to Beas are stranded due to the closure of the route. At present, the work of improvement is going on on the Tawaghat-Lipulekh road. Recently, the road was closed for 15 days due to improvement work. Dangerous sites were rectified during this period. These places were between Garbadhar and Bundi.

The work of widening and improvement is going on along with fixing the dangerous spots. During the rectification, huge boulders fell on the road due to the blasting done to break the rock near Malpa. Due to which the route has been closed since Thursday. This time there has been no snowfall in Vyas due to normal weather for the past several days. Vehicles are plying till Navidhang. Due to which about 12 vehicles ply daily from Dharchula to Vyas.

Due to the closure of the road for two days, vehicles are stuck ahead of Malpa. Vehicles going from Dharchula to Beas returned from Malpa. According to BRO, the route is expected to open by Friday late evening, but no vehicle has reached Dharchula from Beas till Friday evening.
