Uttarakhand : Congress delegation met CM Dhami, kept these demands regarding Joshimath

Congress delegation met the Chief Minister on Saturday late evening regarding the Joshimath disaster. During this, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh, Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhawan Kapri, Dwarahat MLA Madan Bisht and Pratapnagar MLA Vikram Negi were present. The Congress delegation placed before the Chief Minister the problems and difficulties faced by the local people due to the Joshimath disaster.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat asked CM Pushkar Dhami to speed up the construction of pre-fabricated houses. Also demanded to declare the compensation amount immediately. Raising the problems of the Joshimath disaster victims, he said that due to lack of proper maintenance of their cattle, their morale is breaking, in such a situation, those who have cattle should be displaced as near as possible.

Harish Rawat said that the place should be named as New Joshimath. Because, the local public has an emotional attachment with Joshimath. He also asked the Chief Minister to seek the help of the army regarding the Joshimath disaster. Said that with immediate effect big tents should be arranged after talking to the Defense Minister.

Yashpal Arya told the Chief Minister that about 38 families were shifted from Bahuguna Nagar of Karnprayag two years ago. But, till date the administration has not taken care of them. He also urged the Chief Minister to stop the tunnel work of NTPC with immediate effect. Along with this, local MLA Rajendra Bhandari while giving information to the Chief Minister said that till now no work has started on pre-fabricated structures. At the same time, the life of the local people has become even more difficult due to rain and snowfall. He demanded the Chief Minister to fix the compensation as soon as possible.
