Uttarakhand: State Task Force meeting organized under the chairmanship of Secretary, Health, resolution taken to control the eradication of Measles and Rubella by 2023

Measles Rubella vaccination campaign was organized in the entire state from October, 2017 to January, 2018 considering all the children in the age group of 09 months to 15 years as the target in Uttarakhand state. In which 2876211 children were benefitted against 2835658 targeted children. The Government of India has resolved to achieve control over the eradication of Measles and Rubella in the country by the year 2023. For which the state is committed to achieve 95 coverage for both doses of measles and rubella containing vaccines (MRCV). In view of this, based on the baseline data of measles rubella vaccine 1st dose coverage (as per NFHS-5) by the Government of India, states have been classified as Very High Risk (Outbreak reporting Districts), High Risk, Medium Risk Low Risk #. In which the state of Uttarakhand is classified in Medium Risk.

A one-day meeting of the State Task Force was organized by the State on March 03, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Health Department, for the eradication of M.R., in which the Director, NHM from the state level. State Immunization Officer, Officer In-charge of Immunization Team, I.E.C. Officer in charge IDS P. Officer in charge of IT and District Dehradun, Haridwar Nainital, Tehri and Udham Singh Nagar District Officer / Assistant District Officer and State Task Force members (Director, Directorate of Panchayati Raj, Dehradun, Director, Women and Child Development, Nanda Ki Chowki, Chakrata Road, Dehradun, Director (School Education), Uttarakhand President IMA, Dehradun, Uttarakhand President IAP, Dehradun Uttarakhand, Director (Medical Education), Uttarakhand) and Health Department along with the major international organization UNDP JSI and World Health Organization physically and Remaining members participated through virtual medium.

95% coverage and non-measles, non-rubella discard rate (NM, NR) to all children from 9 months to 05 years (Left out / drop out) MR1, MR2 dose coverage by Secretary, Health Department for MR eradication. In order to achieve the desired benchmark of MR, special attention was given for spreading surveillance and covering children from 9 months to 05 years in the areas of MR outbreak with an additional dose.
