Uttarakhand: Changed mood of the weather, forest fire extinguished due to rain, rain in Dehradun since night, cold returned due to snowfall in the mountains

In Uttarakhand, amidst the changing mood of the weather, thunderstorms, rain and hailstorm are increasing the misery in the plains. Light rain and snowfall has returned chill in the mountains.

Snowfall on high peaks including Badri-Kedarnath Dham

At the same time, rain continued in most areas of the state including Dehradun since the early hours of Saturday. There was snowfall on the high peaks including Kedarnath, Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib. Due to which a drop in temperature has also been recorded in most areas. It is raining continuously in Vikasnagar as well. When the weather turned cold due to rain, the warm clothes came out again. Due to the rains, the faces of farmers and gardeners were seen blooming. It started raining in Mussoorie late at 2.30 am. It is raining in Roorkee also since Friday night. There has been light rain in Pauri, Kotdwar and surrounding areas. The temperature has dropped due to rain. On the other hand, rain has damaged the mango and litchi crops. Dense clouds are prevailing in Rudraprayag district. There is a possibility of rain here too.

The weather took a turn after Friday afternoon

Clouds encamped in Dehradun from Friday afternoon and thunderstorm started in the evening. There was light drizzle in the late evening and overnight rain was recorded. The rain continued on Saturday morning as well. Hailstorm was also recorded at many places in the outskirts of Doon and around Mussoorie. In Doon, the temperature took a dive due to the rain in the night and chill was felt. According to the Meteorological Department, 10 mm of rain was recorded in Doon within an hour from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Maximum rainfall was received at Devidhura, Jakholi, Nainital, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Bhimtal, Mukteshwar Jeolikot etc. places in the state. Light showers occurred in other areas as well.

Chances of light rain and snow on the peaks in the mountainous areas

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be partly to generally cloudy sky in the state even today. There are chances of light rain in the mountainous areas and snowfall on the peaks. Low-lying areas may experience hailstorm accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Snowfall in kedarnath

Light rain was also recorded in Chamoli and Uttarkashi on Friday. Whereas, Kedarnath received light snowfall in the evening. There was heavy hailstorm in some areas of Kumaon including Nainital. A drop in temperature has been recorded in most areas of the state. According to Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Center, the weather pattern is expected to change in the state for the next few days. Whereas, on Friday, a warning was issued regarding hailstorm with thunder and lightning at some places in the state and thunderstorm in the plains. There are chances of rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas. A slight drop in temperature can be recorded.

Immediate relief from forest fire due to hailstorm

The Forest Department has also heaved a sigh of relief due to the change in weather in Uttarakhand. Due to rain and hailstorm at different places of the state, the incidents of forest fire have come to a halt for the time being. No incident of forest fire has been registered in the state for the last two days.
