On 22 December, the Gujarat High Court ordered an investigation into alleged rape allegations against Modi. The High Court also said that the incident should be investigated under the supervision of a senior IPS officer. There was no response to an email query sent by Times of India to Rajiv Modi in this regard. The magistrate court had earlier rejected the plea of a 27-year-old Bulgarian girl in this case, but the High Court has canceled the lower court’s order. The High Court said that there is a flaw in the functioning of the Magistrate Court. Instead of asking the police to investigate the case, the magistrate court has put the onus of presenting evidence on the victim. The High Court also criticized the role of two Assistant Commissioners of Police and two Police Inspectors for not taking appropriate action in the case.
