Japan Earthquake: After the earthquake, surge in the sea and cracks on the roads, helpline number released for Indians.

On the occasion of New Year, the land of Japan trembled due to the tremors of the Tanz earthquake. According to the National Seismological Centre, an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale has been felt near the west coast.

After this, tsunami alert has also been issued. According to the information, a tsunami warning has been issued in the coastal areas of Ishikawa, Niigata and Toyama prefectures. At these places the sea waves are rising several meters high.

Japan’s Wajima City Fire Department in Ishikawa Prefecture has received reports of about 30 building collapses. After which the rescue team has been sent to the spot.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said on Monday that an even stronger earthquake is likely to strike central Japan in the coming week.

Japanese government spokesman Hayashi Yoshimasa told media that some houses had been damaged and that military troops had been sent to help with rescue efforts. Also, he said that the officials are still assessing the extent of the damage.

The 7.6-magnitude earthquake is the largest earthquake recorded in the Noto Peninsula region of Ishikawa since 1885, Japan Meteorological Agency officials said.

After the massive earthquake in Japan, high waves have started rising on the east coast of South Korea as well. Work is being done on all parameters of rescue.

This is the first time a tsunami warning of this magnitude has been issued since March 11, 2011.
