Let us tell you that regarding the new provision of hit and run case, the Transport Nagar Traders Association expressed displeasure over the new provision implemented by the Central Government and also demonstrated in protest. The government was demanded to reconsider this proposed law.

The All India Motor Transport Union Congress has announced a three-day nationwide strike in protest against the new provision made by the Union Cabinet to impose 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the driver in case of an accident with a vehicle. Mahasangh Taxi Union Kumaon Mandal has also supported the strike from Monday. In such a situation, taxis will not run from today till Wednesday.

Mahasangh Taxi Union Kumaon Mandal President Thakur Singh Bisht issued a press note saying that the union supports the nationwide strike. Said that the three-day nationwide strike from January 1 to January 3, 2024 has the support of KEMU and others. Kumaon Taxi Federation also fully supports this bandh. He has requested the drivers/owners of commercial vehicles employed in all departments to also give their full support to this bandh.

Transporters said that whenever an accident occurs, the driver does not run away with the intention of saving himself, rather he runs away to save his life from the uncontrollable crowd. In such a situation, it is not right to impose punishment and fine on him. Association President Amarjeet Singh Sethi and General Secretary Pradeep Sabharwal said that the new provisions of hit and run case have created fear among truck drivers. Many truck drivers have left the job. In such a situation, the transport business is in danger.
