Rain wreaking havoc in Uttarakhand, 245 routes blocked due to heavy rain, situation bad in Nainital and Champawat districts

Continuous monsoon rains are continuing in Uttarakhand and during this time the Chardham Yatra is also going on. So far, about 29 lakh pilgrims have visited the four Dhams of Uttarakhand. At the same time, these pilgrims have traveled in Uttarakhand in more than three and a half lakh vehicles. In the monsoon season going on in the state these days, the roads are constantly getting obstructed. Due to which people are facing problems.

Chardham Yatra will break record: According to Uttarakhand Disaster Management, till Monday, July 8, i.e. today, a total of 3012909 pilgrims have visited the four Dhams Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri as well as Hemkund Sahib in the state. Who traveled through 355331 vehicles. At the same time, tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the devotees for the Chardham Yatra and in the coming days the number of devotees can break the record.

Many connecting roads closed in the state: Both these monsoon seasons have started in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in many areas of the state. So far, 31 road accidents have taken place in the monsoon season that started on June 15, in which 71 people have lost their lives. Due to natural calamities, 9 people have lost their lives so far and many houses have also been damaged. If we talk about the death toll of passengers during the travel season, 169 people have died so far. 245 roads are blocked in the state, the worst situation is in Nainital and Champawat districts of Kumaon.

People are troubled due to closure of roads in the districts: If we talk about the current condition of roads in the state, then according to the report till 12 noon today, 8 July, 245 roads are closed in the state. The process of opening them is going on. If we talk about the closed roads district wise, then 14 rural roads are closed in Rudraprayag, 3 rural motor roads in Uttarkashi district, 19 roads in Bageshwar district, 14 roads in Dehradun district, 28 roads including 6 border roads in Pithoragarh, 19 roads in Almora, maximum 38 roads in Nainital district, 35 roads including NH 09 in Champawat district, 16 roads in Pauri Garhwal district, 35 roads including NH-58 in Chamoli district and 24 roads including 1NH in Tehri district.

Department busy in opening roads: Out of these roads, 245 roads including 6 border roads, 3 national highways are blocked in the state. Action is being taken to open them. The worst situation is in Nainital district, where 38 roads are closed. At the same time, 34 roads are also closed in Champawat district. Talking about Garhwal, Chamoli district has the maximum number of 35 closed roads. Work is being done to open these roads continuously in coordination with the Disaster Management Department.

Problems increased due to rain in Almora: Life has been disrupted due to continuous rain for the last five days and the markets are lacking in life. Schools in the district have been closed. Boulders and debris are falling on the roads due to rain. Due to which two state highways and 17 other roads of Almora district are closed. Efforts are being made to open them using JCB.
