28 people bitten by snakes in Odisha amid cyclone ‘Dana’ havoc, admitted to hospital
Cyclone Dana also wreaked havoc in Odisha a few hours ago. During this time, a total of 28 people, including 13 women and a doctor, were hospitalized due to snake bites. After taking stock of the situation after the cyclone, CM Mohan Charan Manjhi said that 28 cases of snake bites were reported in Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts, which are most affected by the cyclone. Manjhi said, the victims of snake bites were immediately taken to nearby hospitals and their condition is improving after treatment.
4 officers suspended
Meanwhile, the Odisha government suspended 4 officers on Saturday on charges of negligence and misbehaving with people during cyclone-related work. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said that after getting prima facie evidence, 3 Panchayat Extension Officers and a Revenue Inspector have been suspended. According to the allegations, these 4 officers were appointed to take people to cyclone shelters, where they misbehaved with some people. Pujari said his department had also received complaints against some other authorities which were being verified.
