Why is Constitution Day celebrated only on 26 November?
Constitution Day started in the year 2015. 26 November is the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of the Constitution. Constitution Day was celebrated for the first time in 2015 to commemorate his 125th birth anniversary. Prime Minister Modi had announced it. The main objective of this day is to spread awareness among the people. This day reminds us that the Constitution is the foundation of our country and it determines our rights and duties.
Features of Indian Constitution
The Indian Constitution is the largest written constitution in the world which comes with 448 sections and 12 schedules. This constitution not only protects our rights but it also ensures social justice, equality and freedom. Through the fundamental rights given in the Constitution, every citizen gets the right to raise his voice.
The Indian Constitution gives the right to equality to the people. Under this, citizens have fundamental rights like freedom of expression, freedom of religion and right to education.

The Constitution of India was adopted on 26 November 1949, but it came into force on 26 January 1950. The Constituent Assembly took two years, eleven months and eighteen days to finalise the Constitution. During this period, they held a total of 166 meetings.
