Christian population in America has decreased drastically, data about Hindus has also come out

Recently an important study has been done in America, which was conducted under the Religious Landscape Study (RLS). The purpose of this study was to understand how many people of which religion are there in America and in which area they live. This study highlights the religious character of America, which includes details of religious identity, population distribution and age groups.
A shocking figure came out from this study that 29 percent of the population of America does not believe in any religion. Although this figure was increasing for the last few years, now it has stabilized. Experts believe that this is a better sign for America, which is helpful in maintaining balance in the society.
Decline in Christian population
According to the study, 62 percent of the population of America still believes in Christianity. However, since 2014, it has declined by 9 percentage points, and since 2007, a decrease of 16 points has been seen.
Regional distribution: 21 percent of Christians live in the Midwest, 16 percent in the Northeast, 42 percent in the South, and 21 percent in the West.
Age groups: 14 percent of Christians are 18-29 years old, 28 percent are 30-49 years old, 28 percent are 50-65 years old, and 29 percent are over 65 years old.
Muslim population in the US
- Adult Muslims make up 1 percent of the total US population.
- Regional distribution: 20 percent live in the Midwest, 29 percent in the Northeast, 33 percent in the South, and 18 percent in the West.
- Age groups: 35 percent of Muslims are 18-29 years old, 42 percent are 30-49 years old, 13 percent are 50-65 years old, and 8 percent are over 65 years old.
Presence of Hinduism

- Age groups: 22 percent of Hindus are 18-29 years old, 51 percent are 30-49 years old, 17 percent are 50-65 years old, and 4 percent are over 65 years old.
Presence of Buddhism
- 1 percent of the US population is adult Hindu, spread across various regions.
- Regional distribution: 10 percent live in the Midwest, 13 percent in the Northeast, 32 percent in the South, and 45 percent in the West.
- Age groups: 23 percent of Buddhists are 18-29 years old, 37 percent are 30-49 years old, 18 percent are 50-65 years old, and 21 percent are over 65 years old.
Presence of Judaism
- The US has a larger Jewish population than Hindus and Muslims, representing 2% of the total population.
- Regional distribution: 9% live in the Midwest, 42% in the Northeast, 26% in the South, and 23% in the West.
- Age groups: 18% of Jews are 18-29 years old, 31% are 30-49 years old, 20% are 50-65 years old, and 30% are over 65 years old.
Religious background of the US
