Health advisory issued in 12 languages for Char Dham Yatra, Health Secretary claims – preparations for the Yatra have reached the final stage

The Chardham Yatra will begin with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand on 30 April. The enthusiasm with which devotees are registering to visit the Dhams is telling that this time the number of devotees coming to visit the Chardham will set a new record. All the departments are busy preparing for the Chardham. In this episode, the Health Department is also taking many big steps to provide better health facilities to the devotees. Under which the Uttarakhand Health Department has issued health advice and SOP in 12 languages.
Uttarakhand Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that special emphasis has been laid on the health safety of the devotees. Keeping in mind all the geographical and climatic challenges, the government has issued health advice and SOP in 12 languages. Along with this, the Health Secretaries of all the states have been requested through a letter that extensive publicity should be done on health checkup, vigilance and medical preparations before the Yatra.
Because, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham are located at high altitude. In such a situation, pilgrims have to face difficult climate. Due to which there is a lack of oxygen or other problems. In such a situation, pilgrims should come to visit Chardham with necessary health tests and necessary preparations.
Health advisory sent to all states: Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that pilgrims will be assisted at important places like screening points, emergency services and helipads. Letters have been sent to all the states regarding this health advisory. Also, efforts have been made to convey the necessary information to the pilgrims.
For the convenience and health care of the passengers, complete arrangements of doctors, medical staff, oxygen cylinders and medicines have been made. Every possible effort is being made to ensure that no traveler faces any problem related to health services during Chardham Yatra 2025.
Doctors from other states will also be able to provide services in Chardham: Apart from this, the health secretaries of all the states have also been asked to motivate doctors like specialist cardiologists, orthopedics, surgeons from their state to voluntarily contribute to the hospitals located on the Chardham Yatra route. The contribution of the specialist will be for at least 15 days. So that the pilgrims can get better health services.
The Health Secretary said that the state government has also prepared what to do, what not to do and other health care material for the promotion of health safety related to the Chardham Yatra. This material has been sent to all the states. So that the pilgrims can be aware of health safety during the journey.
Screening points created for health checkup of pilgrims: Apart from this, the District Magistrates of all the districts located on the Yatra route have been instructed to distribute this promotional material at the local level. So that the common pilgrims can know about the necessary health safety measures during the journey. During the Chardham Yatra, screening points have been set up to check 28 parameters including blood pressure, sugar, oxygen level of pilgrims.
Trained medical staff and health friends will be deployed at medical relief points: All these points have been linked with the registration point. So that, complete health check-up of the passengers can be done before starting the journey. The number of medical relief points has been increased on the travel route. Trained medical staff and health friends will be deployed there along with doctors.
Health ATMs will be installed on travel routes: Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that health ATMs will be installed on travel routes to make the health check-up of the passengers easier. Blood pressure, sugar, oxygen level, weight, height and body temperature can be measured there. Along with this, 24-hour consultation with specialist doctors will also be provided under telemedicine service.
Special focus on Kedarnath Yatra route: He said that pilgrims face health related problems during the Kedarnath Yatra route. Therefore, health services have been further strengthened during the Kedarnath Yatra. 10 medical relief posts and two PHC centers have been set up on the travel route. Health ATMs will be installed at Guptkashi, Phata, Gaurikund and Narayankoti. Where free health screening of the passengers will be done.
Advice of the Health Department for the pilgrims-
- Get a health checkup done before the journey and plan the journey at least 7 days in advance.
- Take a rest of 5-10 minutes every one to two hours during the Kedarnath and Yamunotri Yatra.
- Carry warm clothes, raincoat, umbrella, pulse oximeter and thermometer during the journey.
- Travelers suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes should keep their essential medicines and doctor’s number with them.
- If you feel chest pain, difficulty in breathing, dizziness or vomiting during the journey, immediately go to the nearest medical relief point.
Advisory of the Health Department for the pilgrims-
- Mandatory health checkup should be done before the journey.
- Practice walking, pranayama and cardio exercises at least two months in advance.
- Carry sufficient quantity of essential medicines with you.
- Mandatory registration should be done on the Health and Tourism Registration App.
- Consume sufficient water, balanced diet and light hot beverages.
- Travellers should take advantage of the screening centers and medical relief posts.
- Carry light layered clothes, warm clothes, gloves and woolen material with you during the journey.
