Political turmoil is unfolding around the world. Amidst this, a piece of news has emerged that has surprised everyone. The US Air Force’s most secret aircraft, the Boeing E-4B Nightwatch, also known as the Doomsday Plane, has now been spotted. After 50 years, it was recently seen in Maryland, near Washington D.C. This is surprising because it has rarely been seen publicly.
Disaster is looming! The Doomsday Plane, built for Nuclear War, arrives in Washington after 50 years
According to reports, the Doomsday Plane was seen flying from its old base in Nebraska to a location very close to Washington D.C. Although no official state of emergency has been declared, its appearance is being seen as a major signal.
This heightened activity is also significant because the US recently attacked Venezuela and took its president hostage. It also seized a Russian ship, increasing global tensions. Furthermore, relations between the US and Iran appear strained. This is also being seen as preparation for a major attack on Iran.
Why is it called the ‘Doomsday Plane’? What is the Doomsday Plane?
The Doomsday Plane, or E-4B Nightwatch, is not an ordinary plane. It is specially designed for nuclear war. It is built to take command of the government and military during a nuclear war or a major national crisis.
If the Pentagon or other command centers on land are destroyed, this plane will be used as the ‘National Airborne Operations Center’. From this center, the President and the Secretary of Defense will be able to give instructions to missile systems and submarines.
Protection from Nuclear Attack
It is designed in such a way that it will not be affected by the radiation and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) released after a nuclear explosion. Under no circumstances will its electronic system stop working. This aircraft can fly non-stop for approximately 12 hours. The E-4B can accommodate 112 people. It features facilities such as a briefing room, separate quarters for the battle staff, and a private cabin for the Secretary of Defense.
How much does the E-4B cost?
Operating the fully equipped E-4B is no ordinary feat. The operating cost alone is approximately $160,000 per hour, or about 14 million rupees. It was built at a cost exceeding $223 million.
