The CBI will now investigate the mystery surrounding the involvement of a VIP in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the allegations of evidence tampering. Following a complaint filed by Padma Bhushan Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Friday to investigate the VIP controversy, and all documents related to the case have been sent from the Garhwal range office to the police headquarters. Now, this file will be sent to the CBI by the state government.

This information was given by Inspector General of Police (IG) Rajiv Swaroop in a press conference on Saturday. He said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the government has initiated the process of sending the case file to the CBI. He also clarified that the police had conducted a thorough and responsible investigation into the murder from the very beginning, in which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of a senior female police officer (IPS).

The investigation is now being handed over to the central agency

The SIT collected concrete evidence in the case and arrested all three accused, who were subsequently sent to jail. Due to the thorough investigation, all three accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment and have not received bail even for a single day. It was clarified in the press conference that the Chief Minister himself spoke to Ankita’s parents. The government wants to convey the message that it does not want to hide anything at any level in this case, which is why the investigation is now being handed over to the central agency. He appealed to the public not to believe social media rumors and to hand over any confidential evidence directly to the investigating agency if they possess any.

Main basis of Dr. Joshi’s complaint

The FIR registered by the police at Basant Vihar police station late Friday night, based on Dr. Joshi’s complaint, mainly focuses on two points. One is the investigation of the unknown individuals being referred to as VIPs. The second is the allegations of concealing or destroying evidence. In his complaint to the Director General, he stated that even though the criminals involved in the Ankita murder case have been punished, it is being said on social media and other platforms that evidence was allegedly concealed or destroyed in the case. Therefore, an independent investigation into the alleged crime related to the person or persons being referred to as VIPs is necessary to ensure complete justice. A separate and impartial investigation should be conducted to uncover the facts.
