T20 World Cup 2026: ICC rejects request! Bangladesh’s match venues will not be changed

a
The growing tension between Bangladesh and India is now spilling over into sports. Recently, Bangladesh requested that its men’s team’s T20 World Cup matches be moved out of India due to security concerns. However, the
International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected the request. They stated that the Bangladeshi team faces no threat in India.
Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup 2026 match venues will not be changed
This clarification comes after a statement by Asif Nazrul, an advisor to the Bangladesh Ministry of Sports. He claimed that the ICC’s security team had validated Bangladesh’s concerns and warned of increased threats to Bangladeshi players in India.
ICC rejects the demand!
Bangladesh is scheduled to play four matches in India during the T20 World Cup 2026. However, on the evening of January 12, an ICC source refuted these claims, which Nazrul of Dhaka had publicly stated, claiming that the ICC report confirmed that Mustafizur Rahman’s security was at risk in India.
No threat found in the investigation
An ICC source, speaking to PTI on condition of anonymity, stated that the independent investigation report found no threat that would warrant shifting Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches.
Security risk found to be ‘low to moderate’
The source said that the security risk was found to be at a ‘low to moderate’ level, which is normal for any international event. This simply means that preparations are being made to provide adequate security to all players in India so that the Bangladeshi team can play their matches without any fear.
