Uttarakhand: The Bihari Mahasabha celebrated Basant Panchami, and the event was organized in the premises of Shiv Bal Yogi Maharaj

The Bihari Mahasabha organized a program on the occasion of Basant Panchami at the premises of Shiv Bal Yogi Maharaj at 180 C Rajpur Road. The Mahasabha had commissioned an idol of Goddess Saraswati from Haridwar for the idol worship ceremony. The idol worship, Saraswati Vandana, and Aarti were performed at 10:30 AM. After the idol worship, prasad (blessed food) was distributed to local devotees. Later in the afternoon, a community feast was organized for thousands of devotees. A grand cultural evening was also held from 6 PM onwards.
Chandan Kumar Jha, the secretary of the Bihari Mahasabha, said that Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Magha according to the Hindu calendar. It is also called Nag Panchami. In the spring season, new shoots begin to sprout on the trees, and the earth is naturally adorned with various kinds of captivating flowers. The fields are covered with a blanket of yellow mustard flowers, and the melodious calls of the cuckoo bird resonate in all directions. The festival of Basant Panchami was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm throughout the country on January 23rd.
The president of the Bihari Mahasabha stated that on this day, the goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and wisdom, is worshipped throughout India. According to a story described in the Puranas, Lord Krishna, pleased with Goddess Saraswati, granted her a boon that she would be worshipped on the day of Basant Panchami. Traditionally, this festival is considered very auspicious for children’s education. Therefore, in many parts of the country, children’s education begins on this day. Children are taught to write and read their first word. In Bihar, it is called Vidyarambh Parv (the beginning of education festival). Special rituals and events are also organized in schools here for this occasion.
The Saraswati Puja program of the Bihari Mahasabha was attended by the president of the assembly, Lalan Singh, secretary Chandan Kumar Jha, treasurer Ritesh Kumar, along with former president Satyendra Kumar Singh, executive secretary Dant Giri, Dr. Ranjan Kumar, Vidya Bhushan Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Govindgarh Mandal president Vinay Kumar Yadav, Mandal secretary Ganesh Sahni, treasurer Vijay Pal, as well as Suresh Thakur, Dharmendra Thakur, Dinesh Kumar, executive members, Ragh Jewelers, Physics Planet director Ravi Kumar, Rajesh Roshan, and thousands of members of the Bihari Mahasabha.
