On the occasion of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), Governor Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen visited the ‘Shaurya Sthal’ (War Memorial) at Chidbagh in Dehradun on Saturday to pay tribute to the brave martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation. He laid a floral wreath to honor the martyrs and recalled their sacrifice, courage, and dedication. Senior Army officers and personnel were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor stated that the indomitable courage, sense of duty, and dedication with which Indian Army personnel fulfill their responsibilities in defending the motherland serve as an inspiration for the entire nation. Describing Uttarakhand as ‘Veerbhumi’ (land of the brave), the Governor remarked that the spirit of patriotism and service to the nation is deeply ingrained in the soil of the state. In Uttarakhand, nearly every second household has someone serving in the nation’s armed forces. The youth of Uttarakhand have always possessed a strong passion to join the Army and serve the country—a reason why the state shares a profound connection with the military and its traditions. He expressed pride in the state’s brave soldiers, martyrs, and their families, noting that the sacrifice made by these soldiers is not limited to their own families; rather, the entire nation remains indebted to them.
