A woman gave birth to a child in the toilet of Srinagar-Karnprayag bus stand on Sunday morning. There was chaos at the time of the incident, but with the promptness of the health department and the help of the local people, the lives of both the mother and the child could be saved.

According to the information, Jyoti Thapa (21), wife of Manish Thapa, is a woman of Nepali origin who works as a laborer with her family in Brady Sen area of Karnprayag. In the morning, Jyoti was leaving for Himachal with her family for work. On the way, when the bus stopped for a while at the Srinagar-Karnprayag bus stand, Jyoti went to the toilet.
Doctors ensured safe delivery of the woman
Suddenly Jyoti’s screams were heard. Hearing the noise, the woman’s family and other passengers ran towards the toilet. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the health department team deployed at the bus stand immediately reached the spot. The doctor and pharmacist present in the team acted wisely and ensured the delivery of the woman and took the newborn out safely.
The condition of both mother and child is stable
After delivery, the mother and the newborn were immediately sent to the Government District Hospital Srinagar with the help of an ambulance, where doctors have declared the condition of both as stable. The family heaved a sigh of relief, appreciating the promptness of the local people and the health department.
