Rupee breaks eight paise
The rupee weakened by eight paise in the interbanking currency market due to the rise in crude oil prices in the international market and sold one dollar for Rs 72.97 at the close of trading. Indian currency has fallen by 17 paise in two days. On the previous trading day, it had closed down by nine paise at Rs 72.89 per dollar.
The rupee today opened lower by a paise at Rs 72.90 per dollar.
Throughout the day, it remained between Rs 72.89 per dollar and Rs 73.02 per dollar. In the end, it closed at Rs 72.97 per dollar, down by eight paise against Tuesday.
In the international market, the rupee was under pressure due to the strength of half a percent in crude oil. At the same time, the weakening of the dollar in the basket of other major currencies of the world limited the fall of the rupee.
