Naidu calls for making yoga a part of life
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has called upon people to make yoga a regular part of their daily lives, saying it not only improves physical and mental health but also ensures the health of the entire society. Naidu practiced yoga on the occasion of International Day of Yoga on Monday and said that in times of pandemic, when care of physical and mental health is necessary, yoga is a meaningful means of physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
In a message issued here on the occasion of International Day of Yoga, he said that the mind with yoga, pure of mind, who has conquered himself and the senses, remains intact even while performing actions. Referring to a Sanskrit saying – ‘Yoga yukto vishuddhatma vijitatma jitendriyah sarvabhuttambhootatma kurvannapi na lipyate’ – he said that yoga is India’s unique gift to the world for the welfare of the world.
The Vice President said, in times of pandemic, when care of physical and mental health is essential, Yoga is a meaningful means of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Do yoga regularly by staying at home. Take care, stay safe and healthy.

The Vice President said that this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Health’ – the importance of regular yoga practice for physical and mental health. Naidu and his wife Usha Naidu practiced yoga at the Vice President’s residence on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Due to the Corona epidemic, the Vice President did not participate in any public function and practiced yoga at his residence.
