Uttar Pradesh / Kanpur : Mahant’s dispute deepens in Baba Anandeshwar temple

The major temples and ashrams of the faith in the city have been linked with controversies. After the first Panki temple and then the Shivdham ashram of Bithoor, now a dispute has come to the fore in the Baba Anandeshwar temple located in Parmat. The ruckus has started again over the throne of Mahand in the temple, this is when Shyam Giri Maharaj has declared himself as Mahant two days ago. This has now been opposed by Juna Akhara and on Monday the office bearers have also started a meeting. They say that the appointment of Mahant in the temple is done by Juna Akhara.

Police force and PAC personnel were deployed in Baba Anandeshwar temple premises since Monday morning. In view of the controversy, the temple was taken under security cover. To talk to former Mahant Shyam Giri Maharaj, Chairman Prem Giri Maharaj from Juna Akhara, former Chairman Uma Shankar Bharti, General Secretary Mohan Bharti and more than two dozen saints from Juna Akhara gathered in Mahatma Mandir premises. The conversation went on between them for a long time and the police force kept the entire temple under security.

DCP West Sanjeev Tyagi was also present throughout the meeting. In view of the matter, hundreds of devotees gathered in the temple premises. Udit Anand Maharaj Bal Yogi Arun Chaitanyapuri, Ichha Giri Maharaj Arun Bharti were also present in the temple. They say that the temple is the main center of faith, the problem should be solved without any debate. Ramdas, who was head of the dispute with Mahant Shyam Giri, was excluded from the meeting in the temple.
