India-Sri Lanka series to start from July 18

India’s tour of Sri Lanka for three ODIs and three T20 matches will be played from July 18 to July 29 as per the new schedule. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed this. As per the original schedule, these six matches are to be played from July 13 to July 25.
This change has been made due to the arrival of some cases of corona in the Sri Lanka camp. After the Sri Lankan team recently returned from the tour of England, its batting coach Grant Flower and video analyst GT Niroshan were found to be corona infected.
Confirming the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that there is a new schedule of matches in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan board officials had a discussion with the BCCI secretary on Saturday morning regarding the new revised schedule. The dates for all the matches are likely to be announced soon.
It is also interesting that the Indian team management was strictly following the Kovid protocol but was not aware of this change till late Friday night. The Shikhar Dhawan-led team is preparing for the first ODI to be held on July 13. The Indian team will now play three ODIs on 18, 20 and 23 July and three T20 matches will be played on 25, 27 and 29. July. All matches will be held at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
