Heart wrenching moment in BSF Campus, By the time we could understand, the dead bodies were laid

Sunday morning was normal as usual in the BSF Khasa headquarters mess at Attari Road. Breakfast preparation was going on. The soldiers had come to have breakfast before leaving for duty. They were talking among themselves while sitting on tables and chairs. Unaware of what is going to happen to them in the next few moments. At around 9.30, Sateppa reached there with a rifle in his hand and started firing indiscriminately. The whole campus reverberated with the sound of gunshots. Nobody understood anything. The soldiers ran here and there to escape. Some saved lives by hiding under tables. After this he stopped for some time, then shot himself with his own rifle. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but could not survive. On receiving information about the incident, senior officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Along with this, the entry of anyone other than BSF employees was banned. Even the media was kept away.

Relatives of many jawans also reached the spot as soon as they got information about the incident. BSF IG Jalal Mohammad, who came to know the condition of the injured in the hospital, spoke to the media for a couple of minutes and said that the Court of Inquiry has been marked in it. The investigation has also been given to the police. On the other hand, senior police officers also visited the spot and inspected the spot. Uma Devi, who lives in BSF Khasa headquarters, told that this morning her son Rahul had gone to have breakfast. Don’t know why Sateppa came and opened fire everywhere. His son was seriously injured in this.

He says that increasing stress due to work pressure and distance from family is increasing the tendency like suicide. Incidents related to military fields are a matter of concern.

Rahul says that youth should be careful while choosing a career. Especially the youths going into the military field are aware of the complete methodology. They are unable to adjust due to non-availability of leave during the job or due to stress due to excessive duty. After this, he sometimes harms himself and sometimes others. In such a situation, those parents also need to be very careful, who try to impose their decisions on the children.

To avoid this, awareness is needed at school and college level, so that youth can choose careers based on their potential. Dr. Rahul advises youth to adopt a tendency to share their stress with others. In case of any kind of mental pain, instead of suppressing it as a stigma, go to the psychiatrist. Delay in treatment is becoming one of the main reasons for the rise in incidents like suicide.
