Indian women’s team lost T20 series 2-1 to England

The England women’s cricket team won the three-match series 2-1 after beating the Indian women’s team by eight wickets in the third T20I here on Wednesday. Openers Danielle Wyatt (89) and Natalie Sciver (42) were the heroes of England’s victory in this match.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Indian team scored 153 runs in the allotted 20 overs, but it did not prove to be enough. Danielle Wyatt and Natalie Sciver helped England win the match and series with 154 runs for the loss of two wickets with eight balls to spare. After the dismissal of Tammy Beaumont, both the batsmen put up a crucial 112-run partnership for the second wicket. While Wyatt made 89 off 56 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six, Natalie played a match-winning innings of 42 runs off 36 balls with the help of four fours.

For India, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scored 70 runs, captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 36 and wicket-keeper batsman Richa Ghosh scored 20 runs, while only Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana took one wicket each in the bowling. For England, Sophie Ecclestone took three wickets, Katherine Brunt two and Natalie Sciver took one wicket. Danielle Wyatt was named ‘Player of the Match’ for her explosive half-century and Natalie Sciver was named ‘Player of the Series’ for taking three wickets and scoring 98 runs throughout the series.
