Will support whoever becomes captain in Finch’s absence : Starc

Australia pacer Mitchell Starc says the team will back his replacement if regular skipper Aaron Finch is not available for the three-match series against the West Indies. Finch suffered an injury while fielding during the last T20I against the Windies and his ODI series is considered doubtful. Questions are also being raised about who will be made the captain in Finch’s absence.

The team has Alex Carey as a substitute, who took over as the vice-captain in the ODI series against India last year. Other options are Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques and Michelle Marsh.

Stark said, “It’s a funny question. We have Carey, Hazlewood and Matthew Wade, who has captained before. Moses has also taken over the responsibility of captaincy before.

“Wade has said earlier that captaincy in international cricket becomes easier if the players know what their role is,” he said. If Finch doesn’t feature in the ODI series, I am sure whoever replaces him as captain will do well and we will all be with him.
