Barty and Zverev win Cincinnati Open titles

Ash Barty made a stunning comeback from the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics defeat to win the women’s singles title at the Western and Southern Open (Cincinnati Open) tennis tournament here on Sunday.

On the other hand, Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Aleksandr Zverev continued his streak by winning the men’s singles title to prove his preparations ahead of the US Open.
World number one Barty defeated wild card entry Jill Teichmann 6-3, 6-1. This is his fifth title of the season.

Zverev also didn’t have to sweat much in the Cincinnati final. He defeated seventh-ranked Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-3. The match lasted only 58 minutes.

“It’s been a great week,” said Zverev, who lost to Dominic Thiem in the final of the US Open last year. It’s a great feeling before going to New York (for the US Open).
