G20 to help operate Afghan airports

The G20 countries will provide financial and technical assistance to Afghanistan so that the country’s airports continue to operate smoothly. A virtual meeting of G20 leaders on the issue of Afghanistan took place a day earlier in Rome, Italy. The G20 group is currently headed by Italy.

“The G20 also fully supports, financially, to keep Kabul International Airport fully operational,” the G20 statement said. The G20 also supports the reopening of other airports in Afghanistan for commercial flights, the statement said.
