Center objected to WHO’s claim, ’47 lakh people died due to corona in India’

WHO has released a report regarding the deaths due to corona. According to that report, more than 47 lakh people have lost their lives due to corona in India. At the same time, the official figure of India is a little more than five lakhs. In such a situation, the Government of India has lodged an objection to the WHO report.

The Government of India has raised questions on that figure itself. According to him, the technique or model through which the World Health Organization has collected these figures is not correct. The statement issued said that despite India’s objections, WHO has released the death figures through old technology and model, India’s concerns were not properly taken into account.

The government also emphasized that the figures released by WHO are only about 17 states. Which states are those according to the Centre, that too was not clarified by the WHO for a long time. It is not yet known when these figures were collected. Apart from this, the government also objected to the fact that WHO collected data using mathematical models, while the reliable CSR report was recently released by India.

Talking about the WHO report, according to it, in the last two years, 1.5 crore people have died due to corona or not getting treatment on time. At the same time, the figure of India has been said to be more than 47 lakhs. Regarding this, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that these are very serious figures. It has been emphasized that all countries should prepare more to deal with future health emergencies and should also focus on investing more in this direction.

For now, voice will be raised against these figures from India on the world stage. Objections will be lodged on these increased figures on every important platform. Randeep Guleria, director of AIIMS, has also not considered the figures of WHO to be correct. He has also raised questions on the system of WHO through which these figures were collected. He also said that India has a systematic method of recording birth-death data, in which all types of deaths except Kovid are recorded… while this data has not been used by the World Health Organization.

NITI Aayog member VK Paul also believes that when India already has the data of deaths due to corona, in such a situation the model cannot be given importance where only the estimated figures have been released. He has also mentioned that in the year 2020, there were 1.49 lakh deaths due to corona in India.
