Swine fever knocked in Uttarakhand, 192 pigs died, guidelines issued to all districts for prevention

Swine fever has knocked in Uttarakhand. So far 192 pigs have died in Pauri and Dehradun districts of the state. Swine fever has been confirmed in samples sent to Indian Veterinary Research Institute Bareilly and National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases Bhopal. Guidelines have been issued by the Animal Husbandry Department to all the districts for alert and prevention.

One kilometer radius of the area affected by swine fever has been declared as infected zone. While the area up to 10 km was kept in the surveillance zone. The movement of pigs to and from the affected areas is prohibited. DK Sharma, Joint Director (Disease Control), Animal Husbandry Department said that 91 pigs have died due to swine fever in Pauri district and 101 in Dehradun district.

In Almora district of the state, the death department of pigs had sent samples for examination, but swine fever has not been confirmed in them. Teams of doctors are being continuously monitored by the department in the affected areas. Samples from the surveillance zone are also being sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases Bhopal for examination. He said that the disease does not spread from pig to human, nor does it threaten other animals.

There is no vaccine or medicine to prevent swine fever

The department says that swine fever disease has come from African countries. Till now there is no vaccine or medicine to prevent this disease. If the pig catches this disease, it is difficult to save it. The disease is prevented from spreading. For this, monitoring is being done by the department in the affected areas.
