Special Principal Secretary Information Abhinav Kumar participated in the discussion organized on the topic of Film Industry as the Growth Driver of Uttarakhand’s economy at Valley of World International Literature and Art Festival organized in Dehradun on Saturday. Giving information about the work being done by the State Government through the Film Development Council, Special Principal Secretary Information Abhinav Kumar said that there are many writers, actors, film producers, and famous faces working in the field of films from the state of Uttarakhand. He said that Uttarakhand is emerging as a new shooting destination for the film industry day by day. The natural beauty of Uttarakhand is attracting people for filming. He told that more than 300 small and big films have been shot in the state in the last one year, which is a big positive sign for the state of Uttarakhand. He said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is working on film city infrastructure and new film policy to make the state of Uttarakhand as a new shooting destination.
Special Principal Secretary Information Abhinav Kumar said that suggestions were sought from the general public regarding the proposed film policy-2022 by the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, work on the new policy is underway. He also urged various artists from the film world to give advice for the new film policy 2022, he said that the film policy 2022 would be completed by the end of this year. He said that we want to connect artists, local people, actors and everyone collectively with the new film policy, he said that the increasing filming in the state of Uttarakhand will provide employment to the people here and provide new opportunities to the youth, he said that this state is an outdoor shooting destination. It is going to become a big hub, along with we are also encouraging local film artists and films made in local dialect, for which there is also a subsidy criterion in the Information and Public Relations Department.
Special Principal Secretary Information Abhinav Kumar said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, work is being done to identify more than 100 acres of land for the expansion of Film City in Uttarakhand. He said that along with this, good and high quality studios will be opened in Uttarakhand. He said that we will develop Film City as a high quality production center in the state of Uttarakhand, so that pre-production, production and post-production works can be done at one place. He said that within the coming 5 years, ground work will definitely be visible on Film City. He said that along with the plains, work has been done to connect the remote areas of the mountains as shooting destinations. New OTT platform is also being considered for local films of Uttarakhand state. Along with this, the work of giving UK Filmfare Awards will also be started soon in the state of Uttarakhand.
