Gujarat: Controversial statement of Shahi Imam – Giving tickets to Muslim women is against Islam

Just a day before the voting for the second phase of assembly elections in Gujarat, Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Ahmedabad has given a big statement. Siddiqui has objected to giving tickets to Muslim women in the elections and openly protested. They have told it against Islam. Along with this, Islam has been termed as a conspiracy of the weak. Siddiqui said that Islam is being weakened. Are there no men left for tickets?

Shahi Imam Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui said- When it comes to Islam, I would like to tell that right now people are offering Namaz here. Did you see a single woman? Namaz is most important in Islam. If it was justified in Islam for women to come in front of people like this, then they would not have been stopped from the mosque. Why was she barred from the mosque, because women have a place in Islam. So whoever gives tickets to women, they are rebelling against Islam. This act of his is against Islam. Aren’t there men… that you are bringing women. This will weaken our religion. It will be weak because… because yesterday the issue of hijab came up in Karnataka. There was an uproar.

He further said- Now it is obvious, if you make your women as MLAs… counselors, without compulsion… then what will happen to them? We will not be able to keep the hijab safe. Will not be able to raise this issue. Because the government will say that your women are now coming to the assembly and parliament. Appealing on stage. She is going door-to-door for votes in the election. Will have to go to the homes of Hindus and other people as well. A woman’s voice is also a woman in Islam. That’s why I am strongly against it. If you want to fight then give ticket to a man… where there is no compulsion. If there was such a law that only women can contest from that seat, then you could call it a compulsion. There is no compulsion here.

He further said- I am seeing that girls are being put forward in the civic body elections of Delhi. Now I think that their aim is that women run more in the houses. If you take women under control, then the whole family will come under control. Apart from this, no purpose is understood.
