Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal made a big disclosure on Saturday and told that she was sexually assaulted by her father when she was a child. Maliwal told that when she was only four years old, she was a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of her father. Participating in an award function organized by the Women’s Commission, Swati Maliwal said that the event moved her as the stories of struggle of women award winners reminded her of her own struggle.

Father used to beat badly
Swati Maliwal remembered her childhood and got emotional. She narrated how she was ‘sexually assaulted’ by her father. Maliwal said, “My father used to beat me a lot. When he came home, I used to hide under the bed, I was very scared. At that time, I used to spend whole night thinking how to empower women against such atrocities.” He used to grab my hair and bang my head against the wall. But I believe this incident inspired in me the determination to work for the welfare of women,” said Swati Maliwal That she had lived with her father till class four.

Swati Maliwal was divorced in 2020
Please tell that in the year 2015, soon after the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed, Swati Maliwal became the chairperson of the Delhi Women’s Commission. Later his tenure was extended. Prior to heading the DCW, he worked as an advisor to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Swati Maliwal was married to former Haryana AAP president Naveen Jaihind but they got divorced in 2020.

Maliwal is vocal on social media against cases of atrocities on women. In January, following a spate of crimes against women in Delhi, Maliwal claimed to be inspecting the security situation in Delhi at night when a drunken cab driver locked her hand in the car window and dragged her .
