French President Emmanuel Macron appealed to Israel for ceasefire in Gaza, Benjamin Netanyahu gave a blunt answer

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Israel to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. In an interview given to a foreign news agency, Macron said, ‘Israel must stop bombing Gaza and killing civilians.’  The French president said there was ‘no justification’ for the bombing and said a ceasefire would benefit Israel.

He said that France ‘unequivocally condemns’ the ‘terrorist’ actions of Hamas, but while recognizing Israel’s ‘right to self-defense’ we urge them to stop this bombing in Gaza.  When asked if he wanted other world leaders, including the United States and Britain, to join his call for a ceasefire, Macron said, “I hope they will.”

Innocents are being killed in Gaza, cannot legitimize it: Macron

Emmanuel Macron said in his interview that not all citizens of Gaza belong to Hamas. There is no other way than a ceasefire to protect innocent civilians. ‘In fact – civilians are becoming victims of the bombing,’ he said.  There is no reason to attack these babies, these women, these old people and it cannot be justified. So we urge Israel to stop it.

World leaders should condemn Hamas, not Israel: Netanyahu

More than a month has passed since the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.  Many countries of the world including America, Europe and Central Asia have put pressure on Israel to moderate its actions in Gaza.  But he says that Gaza-based extremist organization Hamas will take advantage of the ceasefire to regroup.  In a statement responding to Macron’s comments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said world leaders should condemn Hamas, not Israel.  Netanyahu said, ‘These crimes that Hamas is committing today in Gaza can be repeated tomorrow in Paris, New York and anywhere in the world.’

The war between Israel and Hamas started on October 7

Let us tell you that on October 7, 2023, Hamas suddenly attacked Israel, after which the Jewish nation started retaliating.  More than 1,400 Israeli civilians were killed and more than 240 people were taken hostage in the Hamas attack.  After this, the Israeli Air Force bombed Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip.  A few days later, his army started a ground campaign.  According to the Health Ministry of Hamas-controlled Gaza, more than 10,000 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds injured in Israeli attacks so far.
