Highest intensity earthquake in Taiwan in 25 years, nine people died

In the devastating earthquake that occurred in Taiwan on Wednesday (03-04-2024), 9 people have died and many buildings have also been damaged. It has also come to light that about 70 laborers are trapped in two mines here. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed solidarity with the earthquake affected people of Taiwan. Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has thanked PM Modi for his support in ‘challenging times’.
‘Grateful for the support’
President Tsai posted on social media platform ‘X’, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are very grateful for your kind words and support in these challenging times. “The solidarity shown by you means a lot to the people of Taiwan as we all work rapidly to normalize the situation.”
PM Modi expressed grief
PM Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “Deeply saddened by the death of people due to earthquake in Taiwan. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families and we pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.” He said, “We stand in solidarity with the people of Taiwan as they cope with the aftermath of the earthquake and Are trying to recover from this.
The India Taipei Association also expressed condolences
The India Taipei Association has also expressed its condolences to the earthquake victims. India established the ‘India Taipei Association’ in Taipei in 1995 with the aim of promoting dialogue between the two sides and facilitating trade, tourism and cultural exchanges. India-Taipei Association is authorized to provide all consular and passport services. In 1995 itself, Taiwan also established the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Delhi.
