Gautam Gambhir is in favour of playing Rishabh Pant instead of Sanju Samson. Although he called both the players better. But then he said that from the point of view of Team India, if one has to be chosen, that name will be Pant. Gambhir also told the reason behind his choice.
Gambhir put Pant above Samson
Gautam Gambhir said that whether it is Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson, both are amazing players. Pant has as much ability as Sanju has. But, if one has to be chosen, then Pant will be the best because he is a natural batsman of the middle order. Giving the reason for not choosing Sanju, Gambhir said that if you look at IPL, he has been playing continuously at number 3. On the other hand, Pant has been seen playing at number 5, 6 and 7.
Team India’s combination became the reason
Now if we look at it from the perspective of Team India’s combination, then we are looking for a wicketkeeper batsman in the middle order, not in the top order. That’s why I will go with Rishabh Pant. Apart from this, another thing that seems to go in Pant’s favor is that he is left-handed.

If we look at IPL 2024, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have scored runs in almost the same style. Sanju Samson has scored 486 runs in 12 matches played so far this season. At the same time, Rishabh Pant has 446 runs after 13 matches. During this, the strike rate of both has also been above 155.
