Mountains are cracking in Uttarakhand, Badrinath Highway is closed again today, Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in all 13 districts till July 13

Rain, floods and landslides have caused heavy devastation in Uttarakhand. Mountains are cracking at some places and roads are closed at many places. Badrinath National Highway has also been closed due to landslides. The Meteorological Department has informed that today, on July 9, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places with lightning along with thunder at some places. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for all 13 districts of Uttarakhand till July 13.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning saying that travelers should take weather information before going to the mountain. Walk carefully on the mountains and avoid going to the river bank. People living in sensitive landslide areas and on the banks of the river need to go to safety. The Meteorological Department has also warned farmers to keep crops safe as a precaution. Chief Minister Dhami visited the flood-affected areas today to take stock of the situation.

Flood in many areas, Banbasa, Tanakpur affected the most

Let us tell you that due to heavy rains in Kumaon of Uttarakhand in the past few days, rain has wreaked havoc in the areas of Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar. No news of anyone’s death has come to light yet, but due to the overflowing of rivers, Banbasa, Tanakpur have been affected the most. At the same time, rain submerged the entire city in Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar. So far, Champawat Police has taken more than 500 people to a safe place.

JCB deployed at sensitive places

Due to waterlogging in these areas, many houses were completely filled with water. People are being sent to safe places. SDRF companies have been deployed in such areas. At the same time, after the order of the Chief Minister, taking lessons from last year’s disaster, JCBs and teams have been deployed at sensitive places. PWD Secretary Dr. Pankaj Pandey said that the bridge has broken due to excessive water and debris in Mohan in Ramnagar. The bridge was repaired earlier also, although it was not in a sensitive condition, now an alternative route is being built.

97 sensitive bridges in Uttarakhand

The bridge of Malan river damaged last year in Kotdwar is being repaired. It may take 1 year to build other bridges. Dr. Pandey informed that there are 97 sensitive bridges in Uttarakhand, out of which proposals have been sent for repairing 84. The remaining bridges are being inspected and have also been closed as per need. Pandey informed that more than 200 landslide zones have been declared in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, roads that get washed away due to cloud burst and landslides are being repaired or new roads are being built. 450 JCBs have been deployed to open the blocked roads.
