Uttar Pradesh: FIR against 18 policemen including former SP of Chandauli, four inspectors; head constable had complained in court

A case has been registered against 18 policemen including former Chandauli SP Amit Kumar (IPS) and four inspectors at Nandganj police station in Ghazipur. This FIR has been registered on the orders of Ghazipur Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Swapan Anand. The accused have been named under sections of rioting, disobedience to law by a government servant, wrongful detention, kidnapping, extortion and fraud.

Dismissed head constable Anil Singh, who lives in Bhullanpur area of ​​​​Varanasi, had filed a complaint in the CJM court in 2022. In the complaint, Anil had said that he had revealed that the policemen including the then SP of Chandauli were extorting Rs 12.50 lakh from the public every month. On this, the SP dismissed Anil on February 28, 2021.

After this, SP and SWAT team inspector Rajiv Kumar Singh, surveillance in-charge Ajit Kumar Singh, Chandauli police station in-charge Satyendra Vikram Singh and other policemen kidnapped Anil from his in-laws’ house in Ghazipur with the intention of killing him. After keeping him in illegal custody for two days, a fake case was registered in Baburi police station of Chandauli and he was arrested. The CJM had ordered to register an FIR against the accused on September 21, 2024.
