15-year-old Kalpesh achieves a remarkable feat; qualifies for the national level in 25-meter air pistol event, receives congratulations from the Chief Minister and Sports Minister

On the 11th day of the 68th National Shooting Championship organized by the National Rifle Association in Delhi, 15-year-old Kalpesh Upadhyay from Uttarakhand qualified for the national level in the 25-meter .22 pistol event on his very first attempt, scoring 534 out of 600 points. It’s worth noting that Kalpesh had previously qualified for the national level in the 10-meter pistol shooting event last year.

This was Kalpesh Upadhyay’s first attempt in the 25-meter .22 pistol shooting event, which he qualified for with excellent scores. The Sports Pistol .22 is an Olympic category event. This event is played in two parts. The first part is the precision stage, worth 300 points. The second part is the rapid-fire stage, also worth 300 points.

Kalpesh scored 256 out of 300 points in the precision stage and 278 out of 300 points in the rapid-fire stage, for a total of 534 out of 600 points. It is noteworthy that 515 points out of 600 are required to qualify for the national level in the youth category. Kalpesh achieved this with an outstanding performance, scoring 534 points.

CM Dhami and Sports Minister extend congratulations
Kalpesh Upadhyay is the son of Bhupesh Upadhyay, a Minister of State in the Uttarakhand government, and a resident of Bageshwar. Kalpesh has been involved in pistol shooting since the age of 9. Currently, Kalpesh is preparing for the Olympics while pursuing full-time pistol shooting practice through homeschooling.

Looking at Kalpesh’s excellent performance, it is hoped that in the coming years, he will represent his home district of Bageshwar, his state of Uttarakhand, and India at the Olympics and bring glory to the nation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the state’s Sports Minister Rekha Arya congratulated Kalpesh on this achievement and wished him a bright future.
