Bangladesh Violence: Protests in India over the murder of a Hindu youth
Protests are taking place in India following the murder of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh. Members of the All India Hindi Bengali Organization, VHP, and Bajrang Dal protested against the increasing violence against minorities in Bangladesh and the brutal lynching of Deepu Chandra Das.
Government must take steps to protect Hindus
Members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and other Hindu organizations protested against the attacks at the Bangladesh High Commission. VHP national spokesperson Shashidhar said, “Hindus are being persecuted in Bangladesh. The Indian government should take strong action to protect Hindus in Bangladesh. A large number of Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas are living in Bhagya Nagar. If the state government does not take any action, the VHP will announce its own course of action.”
Hindus being targeted in Bangladesh
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern over the murder of a Hindu man and the escalating violence in Bangladesh. The Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, said, “Yes, we are very concerned about the violence we have seen in Bangladesh.” He added, “Whether it’s Bangladesh or any other country, it is essential that those who are outside the ‘majority’ group feel safe, and that all Bangladeshis feel safe. We trust that the government will do everything possible to ensure the safety of every Bangladeshi.”
Attacks on minorities are extremely unfortunate
On this, Assam Minister Ashok Singhal said, “The attacks and killings of minorities in Bangladesh are very unfortunate.” The government there should seriously consider this. Bangladesh was created with India’s help, and now they are persecuting minorities and ignoring India’s concerns. The Bangladeshi government must ensure the safety of every citizen.”
