Controversy continues to emerge within the Dehradun Municipal Corporation regarding tenders for development projects. An investigation report into irregularities in the tender list has confirmed irregularities. Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal has now halted tenders for all development projects. Physical verification is currently underway for all development projects.

Tender list for development works from the Mayor’s quota was released: It is noteworthy that last week, a tender list for proposed development works in all 100 wards of the Municipal Corporation was released from the Mayor’s quota. Following this, several councilors raised questions about the list. They alleged that while works worth ₹20 to ₹22 lakh were approved in most areas, works worth ₹70 to ₹80 lakh were included in some wards.

As controversy over this discrepancy escalated, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal and Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal took cognizance of the complaints and ordered an investigation into the tender list. However, when the committee examined the tenders, it discovered that some development works had been incorrectly included in the tender list. Some of these works had already been completed by other departments.

Tenders were reissued for these development works:

  • Construction of a concrete road from the Shiv Mandir to Sameer Pundir’s house in Chalank village in Ward 4.
  • Painting and repair of the park near the railway crossing in Saraswati Vihar, Ward 52.
  • Pipe laying and road construction in Mohbbewala Wala, Ward 90.
  • Construction of a concrete road and drain in Subhash Nagar and Krishna Vihar, Ward 79.
  • Culp and road construction in Mianwala Buransh Kunj Colony, Ward 68.
  • Construction of a community hall in Kedarpur and Kunj Vihar, Ward 83.

Geo-tagged photographs of the ground conditions will be taken before any work begins, and the photographs will be attached to the file after completion. The proposals on the list will be thoroughly examined. Their current status will be examined.

He stated that some discrepancies have been uncovered in the list, including duplication of some works. Action will be taken on these shortcomings. The subsequent process will proceed only after the work list is resubmitted after verification.
