Uttarakhand:Political activity intensifies over Harish Rawat’s return; Congress highlights the benefit of his experience, while BJP claims he was sidelined

State politics have heated up following the return of former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat to Uttarakhand after a long absence. Upon his arrival in Dehradun, Congress workers gave him a rousing welcome and organized a roadshow. Subsequently, a war of words has erupted between Congress and BJP leaders.

State Congress General Secretary Neeraj Tyagi stated that Harish Rawat is a senior party leader who had been unwell for a long time. The warm reception he received from party workers and the public upon his return after nearly two months is a testament to the affection they hold for him. He noted that all leaders are diligently discharging the responsibilities assigned to them by the central leadership.

Tyagi mentioned that State President Ganesh Godiyal is focused on strengthening the organization. Harak Singh Rawat is handling election management, Pritam Singh is leading the election campaign committee, Karan Mahra is in charge of the charge-sheet committee, and Bhuvan Kapri is heading the manifesto committee. He emphasized that an organization is strengthened through collective effort rather than the actions of a single individual.

Congress Highlights Harish Rawat’s Experience

Neeraj Tyagi pointed out that Harish Rawat is a former Chief Minister and a multi-term MP; consequently, the Congress organization will undoubtedly benefit from his vast political experience. He stressed the need to focus on genuine issues concerning the state rather than engaging in mere political speculation.

He raised issues such as the alleged question paper leak in the NEET exam, the state’s law and order situation, and the safety of ordinary citizens. He also called for a serious discussion on the demand for justice in the Ankita Bhandari case and matters related to Uttarakhand’s socio-economic conditions.

BJP Targets Harish Rawat

BJP state spokesperson and senior MLA Vinod Chamoli took aim at the Congress party over Harish Rawat’s roadshow. He claimed that Harish Rawat is struggling within the Congress party itself and that the current leadership is attempting to sideline him.

Chamoli further remarked that Harish Rawat is staging such demonstrations to assert his political relevance. Describing it as an internal dispute within the Congress, he claimed that the BJP could reap political benefits from it.
