Uttarakhand faces heavy rains, nearly 300 roads closed, Kumaon in distress, SDRF deployed in Tanakpur
297 roads are closed across the state after continuous torrential rains in Uttarakhand for the last two days. Due to excessive rains in Kumaon, SDRF troops have been deployed from Rishikesh to Tanakpur.
Due to continuous rains in the state for the last two days, there are flood-like conditions in Tanakpur, Pithoragarh and Champawat of Kumaon. Due to heavy rains, there is news of water entering some villages near Champawat. 6 houses in Berinag have come under landslide. About 300 roads are closed due to continuous rain for 2 days in the entire state. Which also includes the Pithoragarh Tanakpur main road.
On Friday morning, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the Disaster Management Operations Center on the damage caused by the rain. He took information about the situation of the state, since the alert issued by the IMD, the State Disaster Management Department is in touch with the District Magistrate of all the districts. Secretary of the State Disaster Management Department, Vinod Kumar Suman said that the situation of the entire state is being monitored for the last two days. District Magistrates are being talked to. Wherever there is news of damage due to rain, rescue teams are being sent with immediate effect.
Apart from this, newly appointed IPS officer Arpan Yaduvanshi on the post of SDRF Commandant said that due to continuous rain for the last 2 days, deployment has been done more in Kumaon. Commandant SDRF Arpan Yaduvanshi said that due to heavy rains, the district administration in Tanakpur had demanded a contingent of SDRF. In view of which a team has been sent from Rishikesh Dhalwala to Tanakpur. The second team has also been kept on backup.
