In Baramulla of Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces have once again foiled the nefarious plot of the terrorists. Security forces averted a major terror plot to target a convoy of security forces in North Kashmir by timely detection of an improvised explosive device (IED). Security forces safely defused the IED without any damage.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, an IED was planted by suspected terrorists along the Baramulla-Srinagar highway in Putkha area of ​​Baramulla district. The IED was hidden in a box so that the security forces did not notice it, but it was detected by the Vigilant Road Opening Party during regular patrolling.

After the IED was found along the Baramulla-Srinagar highway, the security forces immediately defused it. Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police defused the IED with the help of bomb disposal squads. The Baramulla-Srinagar highway was cordoned off as a precautionary measure following the detection of the suspected IED and traffic was stopped on both sides.

After the bomb was detached at Baramulla, the IED was defused safely on the spot using a controlled explosive charge as per standard operating procedures. The police has started the investigation of the incident so that the terrorists possessing IED can be traced. The highway is a major supply route for the Army towards the LoC as it connects both the Kupwara and Handwara areas of the borders.
