India has rejected controversial remarks by Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir in which he claimed that Kashmir is Islamabad’s ‘jugular vein’. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Thursday reacted strongly to the recent remarks of Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir, saying that now the time has come for India to accept the truth and give up the hope of building close ties with Pakistan.

Sharma wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘In his recent address, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir clearly said that there is a deep ideological gap between India and Pakistan.’ Quoting Munir, the Chief Minister said that he has clearly said that India and Pakistan are fundamentally different countries, because the religion, customs, traditions, thinking and ambitions of both the countries are different from each other in every aspect.’

Addressing Pakistanis living abroad, General Munir had said that India and Pakistan are two nations. He had said, ‘We are not one nation. That is why our ancestors struggled to build this country.
